EPRT green lights Six Senses Comino project

November 11, 2025: HV Hospitality welcomes the EPRT’s decision to reject the appeal lodged by NGOs, confirming the Planning Authority’s approval of the Six Senses Comino redevelopment.

HV Hospitality welcomes the EPRT’s decision to reject the appeal lodged by NGOs, confirming the Planning Authority’s approval of the Six Senses Comino redevelopment. This ruling reinforces the company’s vision to create a world-class, environmentally responsible resort that enhances Malta’s tourism offering while respecting Comino’s unique landscape.

HV Hospitality, a subsidiary of Hili Ventures, is investing €170 million in the project, which will transform outdated 1960s-era structures into a sustainable, lower-density resort. Since 2019, HV Hospitality has been working closely with stakeholders and environmental experts to ensure the project minimises the human impact on Comino.

The development will restore over 8,200 sqm of land and introduce 55,000 endemic trees and plants, with every element designed to comply with rigorous environmental standards following extensive impact assessments and public consultations.

The new Six Senses Comino will be dedicated exclusively to tourism, in line with HV Hospitality’s declared intentions and the existing land concession. The resort will also feature energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures, and a design that blends seamlessly with Comino’s natural landscape. This development aligns with Malta’s ambition to lead in sustainable tourism across the Mediterranean and will also:

  • Improve public access to the foreshore
  • Eliminate any discharge of untreated sewage into the sea
  • Restore garigue habitats and comply with the Natura 2000 Management Plan
  • Adhere to strict ERA-imposed conditions and respect Comino’s dark sky environment
  • Achieve LEED certification for sustainable buildings
